A Look on the Bright Side With New Lighting on High Holborn
High Holborn will be hosting a dynamic new visual arts project to brighten our winter evenings
From the end of this month there will be a new landmark in High Holborn. We are unveiling a pilot for a lighting and display system by internationally acclaimed lighting design group Jason Bruges Studio whose work has already featured at Tate Britain and the Glastonbury Music Festival as well as many urban sites in the UK, Europe and America.
Switch-on is planned for the end of October - when the clocks go back, the lights go on!
The new light panels are an art object in their own right as well as an information system and will provide us with both an uplifting piece of visual entertainment and a useful (and fun!) channel of communication.
The pilot system will be in shop and office windows on the north side of High Holborn, between Southampton Row and Red Lion Street. The digital lighting panels will display both co-ordinated lighting patterns and messages to passers by in the street, all designed to keep the winter gloom at bay.
Would you like to be part of it?
If you are in the buildings on the North side between Southampton Row and Red Lion Street and would like to have one of the panels in your shop or office window, let us know as soon as you can - call 020 7078 7077, or email us.
We're always looking for bright ideas for public art to improve our area - let us know if you've seen anything smart that we can use on our streets.
