Keeping tabs on environmental issues
Holborn Reborn- Sustainability in the BID
Sustainability at Summer in Holborn
One of the themes of the festival was the environment, with all eco-friendly initiatives tagged with the “Holborn Reborn” logo. Some of these initiatives included:
- Bio diesel generator from Midas Biopower.
- Eco portaloos from Peagreen Toilets.
- Recycled art challenge curated by Max McMurdo from Reestore.
- Recycled signage and flyers/posters.
- Non chemical inks on all printing.
- Communication carried out digitally where possible.
- Recycling of all event waste materials.
- Recommendation of green transport options to travel home (public transport / eco cabs/Chariot bike) communicated through signage.
- Natural light used on stage.
- Seating created from recycled oil drums tagged with the “Holborn Reborn” strapline.
As the audience at such events becomes increasingly aware of environmental issues it is important for The Holborn Partnership to be able to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, and we feel that this year’s event is a real benchmark in promoting green living at this kind of small festival.
At every stage we tried to communicate these initiatives to visitors to the festival through signage and received positive feedback for the efforts we had made.
